Ferris State University, Graphic Design
I am almost half way done with my junior year and I cannot believe it. Time is flying and it makes me so sad! I am enjoying college so much right now. School is great, my friends are great, and FINALLY softball is great. I was very set on not playing this year but with a new coach and a few other changes I am loving it again! Now that I am officially in the graphic design program, the workload has increased tremendously. I’m making it work though and enjoying it a lot! My class recently went to Toronto for a four day trip to a design conference and it was very fun and a nice little break from class. I’m incredibly blessed that I get the opportunity to experience those sort of things and YOU are a huge part in making that happen. I cannot thank you enough! I am very fortunate to have the Take Charge Foundation in my life!
I attend Ferris State University in Michigan. I study graphic design and I will graduate Spring 2017. I always thought about pursuing a college education. It was something I expected of myself and I knew I would make it happen one way or another. The biggest obstacle I have faced regarding my college education is definitely money. I had the grades, I had the desire and want to attend college, the only thing I was ever worried about was the cost.
I heard of the Take Charge Foundation while I was in high school in Chelsea, MI. Shane and Heidi have a lake house right near my hometown so I knew of Shane and he even came and spoke to my volleyball team. However, it was not until my senior year that I heard about the Take Charge Foundation which I discovered when applying for scholarships to help me fund college. I cherish the relationship with Shane, Heidi, and Newell more than I could ever describe. They are such wonderful people to know. Each one of them is caring, giving, welcoming, and loving to everyone involved in the Take Charge Foundation. They have created so many opportunities for me and I am thankful to have such great people in my life.
Through my involvement with Take Charge, I have learned the value of giving and how much it can impact another person. The gift that I was given from the Take Charge Foundation has had such a huge impact on my life and I could not be more grateful.
