Battioke 2O18

We want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made Battioke 2018 a night to remember! With your help and generosity, we raised over $180,000 to fund scholarships and educational opportunities for deserving future leaders at Miami Central High School, Big Brothers Big Sisters Miami, and beyond. And we had a blast while doing it – we hope you did too!

A special thanks to all of the brave souls who took the stage to dazzle our audience with their vocal skills. Bam Adebayo, Rodney McGruder, Kelly Olynyk, Josh Richardson, Okaro White, Jason Jackson, Erik and Nikki Spoelstra…. It was an honor to have so much of the Miami Heat family engaged and involved in supporting the cause. Larry Johnson, Maffio and Carlito – it’s fair to say this was one of our deepest talents pools yet. And of course, who could forget the championship belt-winning rendition of Funky Cold Medina by none other than WWE’s The Big Show?! To all who graced the stage, another round of applause and our sincere appreciation.

Our friends from Choir!Choir!Choir! added an unprecedented audience-participation element to this year’s installment of Battioke. Daveed and Nobu are gifted at what they do. We hope to have them join us again in the future.

While all of the performances were memorable, Shane’s duet with GUIDE and Take Charge Scholar Elijah was a true highlight of not only the evening, but of the 8 years we have been hosting Battioke. The funds we raised, with your help and generosity, are changing the lives of some really incredible kids. We are confident that Elijah and the rest of our scholars are going to change the world.

We are already actively planning for our next installment of Battioke and have some fun new ideas we hope to explore. For anyone interested in being involved and/or sponsoring the event, please reach out to our Executive Director, Newell Fleming at newell@takechargefoundation.org.
